Eastern Europe, Russia, Don River region, Rus culture, ca. 1380 CE. A pair of iron spear tips purportedly from the site of the famous Kulikovo battle that the Rus fought against the Mongol Golden Horde. Artifacts from the battle are most often discovered by farmers when plowing- including bones, weapons, and armor fragments. Both spear heads have a cylindrical socketing shaft and petaloid blade and the surfaces of both are pitted with a heavy russet and brown patina from exposure. Size: 6" L x 1.12" W (15.2 cm x 2.8 cm)
