Dimensions: Width: 24.5cm, Height: 16cm.
Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Mille Fleur Lidded Round Box. The porcelain box is in a round globular form, rounded on each corner, correspondence dome lid and there is a tongue at the outer rims for fitting the lid, raised on short foot base. The Mille Fleur decoration, meaning the thousand flowers design first appears in the late Yongzheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong and was carried on throughout the subsequent Jiaqing and DaoGuang periods, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enamelled on older pieces. The Upper-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed red script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
