19TH C. FLOWER BASKET & BIRD'S NEST OIL ON BOARD. Probably canvas laid down on board; no visible signature, most likely by Oliver Clare (UK, 1853-1927); 20" x 30"; gilt 20th c. frame 25 1/4" x 35 1/4". Weight: 11.0 lbs. Condition as viewed under UV light in the unopened frame: a little overpainting observed but the UV light is blocked by the varnish so a complete analysis is not possible - appears that there is probably additional overpainting; overall fine craquelure; much of the the image has lost its depth (flattened out) due to being mounted on board; could use a cleaning; gilt wood frame only slightly nicked - see photos.
