Latin America, Mexico, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A unique pendant made from a fossilized shark tooth carved into a face set into a modern high quality 89% silver setting inlaid with an opal, and fire opal cabochons dangle to sides. The face and granulated setting over the tooth's root that create a hat or headdress - evoke the ancient pottery figures from Mexico's past. The pendant is strung on a modern cord as a wearable necklace. Size of pendant: 2.6" L x 1.75" W (6.6 cm x 4.4 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 89%; weight: 29.5 grams
