BIOGRAPHY:
The painter was born in Vienna in 1876. He learned the decorative painting at the Gilder craft in Oberhollabrunn from 1891-1894. Then he worked until 1898 as a painter of rooms and in 1899 as a decorative painter. He worked in Osterode, Berlin, Magdeburg and at last back in Berlin. At the same time he qualified through self-study and evening courses in artisan schools. In 1911 he returned to Vienna and worked as a painter and restorer. After the first World War he worked as a restorer, but even with copy jobs. Until mid-20s, in his 45th year of life, he came to an independent artistic creation. His way led him through the Dutch and Viennese flower painting and unrelenting nature study to a certain autonomy in the flowers and still life painting. He worked almost exclusively with even ground colours and on self finished Surface.
