The 1996 NBA All-Star Game was held on February 11, 1996, at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas. It was the 46th edition of the East versus West contest, and was played during the 50th anniversary year of the National Basketball Association. The star-studded game featured a dominant performance by Michael Jordan who was freshly back from his brief retirement. He put up 20 points and was awarded the game's MVP award, despite sentiments from fans that Shaquille O'Neal was more deserving of the honor.

Freeman's is proud to offer this great piece of sports memorabilia at auction, the proceeds of which will benefit the nonprofit charity Kids In Trouble Inc. The Washington D.C.-based organization was founded in 1968 by sports icon and radio personality Harold Bell of the Inside Sports talk-show, in order to raise money for needy families in the region. The aim was, and still is to this day, to benefit inner city children in the Washington, D.C. area, and encourage them to go to college. Over the years sports figures such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, David Bing, Spencer Haywood, and many more have been involved with Kids In Trouble Inc. Bell was gifted this ball by his close friend and NBA coaching legend, Red Auerbach (1917-2006), with the intention that the proceeds of its sale go directly to the organization.

The full hammer price realized will be donated in its entirety to Kids In Trouble Inc. Individual donations may be sent to Kids In Trouble Inc., 3906 Regency Parkway, #201, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
