Description
Hard-rubber US Navy shaving kit used by sailors during the Civil War. Produced by Goodyear, the underside of the top contains a mirror with an outer ring inscribed with Goodyear’s 1851 patent mark. The bottom half was used to hold shaving soap.
The top of the lid bears the initials “USN,” an anchor, and the famous US Navy motto “Don’t Give Up the Ship!”
