Description
English Sixth plate ambrotype showing the grave of “Sarah Mary Welch.” According to her tombstone, Welch was a widow of Matthew Welch, esq., the daughter of James Stevenson, esq., and died in 1859. Her epitaph reads in part:
“Adorned by divine grace with many excellent gifts and ever distinguished by the most tender affection for her family and friends. She died beloved, revered, and lamented.”
