Near East and Central Asia, Persia, present-day Iran and Turkey, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful paper page from a codex displaying 2 columns of 16 lines of Urdu on one side and a coppered and painted image of a woman on the other. Adorned in hues of lilac, peach, tan, olive, lemon, orange, teal, blue, brown, white, and black, the lovely image displays a woman seated upon a cushion in half lotus position and facing right with her head slightly bowed. Two lines of Urdu embellish the area above her. Size (page): 5.9" W x 8.2" H (15 cm x 20.8 cm); (frame): 8.3" W x 10.8" H (21.1 cm x 27.4 cm)
