A Regency waxwork portrait, A Regency waxwork portrait, early 19th century, attributed to Samuel Percy (Irish, 1750-1820), modelled as a Regency gentleman in relief against a red background, set within a gilt shadowbox frame decorated to the corners with acanthus leaves, with a later glass front, 35 x 33cm For a similarly framed example, Ruth Ord-Hume, 'Mr Percy: Portrait Modeller in Coloured Wax, The Miniatures and Tableaux of Samuel Percy', p.48, fig.33a. Condition Report: The glass front later. The background showing traces of previous applications, likely a modelled curtain as seen in other examples of Percy's work. The frame with scuffs and marks. Loss to the gilding. With a split to the back board.
