Description
This is a 1 pound 12 oz lidded sterling silver box by Award Winning Native American silversmith Thomas Curtis (1942-2013). A rare piece, the box features an intricate hand stamped design and signed T. Curtis. Thomas professionally pursued his art for over 50 years and is considered a top Navajo silversmith. He received many accolades; among them Best in Class at the 1987 Santa Fe Indian Market and was featured in the May 2003 issue of Arizona Highways. He found inspiration for his jewelry by “looking at the ground, the sky, the plants, and the four seasons.” He began crafting traditional Navajo jewelry at only 12 years of age. His heavy-gauge silver jewelry speaks to collectors who value skillful silver work with precise hand-tooled details. His deep-rooted respect for his craft earned Thomas many awards for his Navajo jewelry and impeccable sterling silver boxes. His daughter Jennifer Curtis learned her skills from her father and carries the traditions on for future generation. Size: 6" diameter, 2.5" tall, round handle .75." DOMESTIC SHIPPING $20
