Description
"The Pirate Flag", on "Benner Island, Maine" letterhead, 1999. Inscribed around painting: and with complete letter on another sheet framed back to back, double-glazed. The front reads "Bless you always for thinking of my birthday, Love, Andy". The letter reads: "August 1999, Patty dear, This morning I took a walk up around flag hill - and as I looked at your flag, I realized I never really thanked you enough for this handsome gift. The way it looked against the stormy sky was exciting and deeply moving to me ----". In silver molded frame, matted and double-glazed, OS: 17 3/4" x 14", SS: 10 1/4" x 6 3/4", a bit faded. Benner Island is in St. George, and was part of the Wyeth compound, now preserved by Colby College.
