Romantic Battenburg coat, a glorious original circa 1905 to 1910 Edwardian lady's fashionable one piece summer coat worked in floral handmade tape lace battenburg and withy mixed lace fillings and trim.

The battenburg lace was made by stitching together plain cloth pre-made tapes into stylized floral and geometric patterns with threads simply twisted together like spider-like decorations formed by weaving over and under threads arranged like a spoke of a wheel.

A stylish open front, having a oversized collar, bell flared sleeves and with no closures on front. The coat has a chiffon lining, that I believe is not original but added later.

Condition

In very good sound clean wearable condition, has recently been laundered and pressed. With no stains, no broken brides, and no broken connecting threads, no repairs and the material is strong and sturdy.
When laundered I removed the lining from coat and laundered both separately. I did not reattach, for the new owner may not want this lining. But will be included with the coat. The lining has some very small dot holes, with no repairs, no stains and sound and strong and sturdy.

An outstanding original Edwardian era summer coat. A wonderful addition to one's collection.
