Description: The gentle face of the mother, whose head has sunk relaxed into the pillow, is barely discernible in the depiction drawn with a quick hand. Even more hidden, on the other hand, is the head of the crying child at her side, whose posture and gestures show expressions of great grief. The peaceful scene is unsettled not least by the tightly curved lines, which contrast with the calmly sketched figure of the reclining one. | Watermark: Crown and ears of corn
