Inscription: At the lower part inscribed by another person: "Gemalt von Jo[...] | Das Schloß Hohenzollern | aufgenommen bey der Capelle Maria Zell | in Feuerthalen bey der Rheinbrücke von Schafhausen".
Date: 19th century
Description: In a hilly, wooded landscape, the viewer sees three hikers walking along a path. Behind them is the silhouette of the pilgrimage church of Maria Zell, near Hechingen. Two figures are just returning from a visit to the chapel. Behind them is the view of the wide landscape, with Hohenzollern Castle in the background, enthroned imposingly on the mountain cone of Hohenzollern. It is the ancestral castle of the princely dynasty and the former ruling Prussian royal and German imperial house of Hohenzollern.
