Description

An ambitious and detailed study of native races of the western half of North America culled from the author's collection of 16,000 volumes, manuscripts, pamphlets, maps and Pacific Coast journals. All maps and illustrations present and in very good to fine condition. Extremities rubbed with upper tips of vol. 3 and one on vol. 5 just starting to show through but set is sound, clean and attractive (leather not dried out). Top inch or so of upper joints of two of the volumes just barely starting to crack. 2" wide band of rear cover of vol. 1 is scuffed; vol. 4 has few small scuffs near front edge. Spine compartments show minor surface cracking. Vol. 2 has 2" front joint crack (Volume 2 published 1886 by the History Publishing Company). Approximately 800 pages per volume; 162-page Index, plus 32 pages of Authorities Quoted. 6.5 x 9.25.
