Description
Jules Cheret
French, 1836-1932
Le Punch Grassot, 1895
Color lithograph, signed in plate
The advertising illustration of a lady in billowing gown, yellow hat, and heels, looking over her shoulder with a tray of cocktails. Printed by Imprimerie Chaix from the Les Maitres de l'Affiche series, plate 5; marked as such below the image along with blind stamp. Matted behind glass, gilt frame. Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity from The Omnibus Gallery, Aspen, Colorado.

Dating back to 1862, Punch Grassot is named after a much-lauded comedian at the Palais Royal. It can be served hot or cold, and is a combination of brandy, Curaçao, simple syrup, strawberry syrup, muddled lemon peel, and a touch of vinegar. It is often garnished with either a peach or an apricot.
Image: 12 1/2 x 9 in. (31.8 x 22.9 cm.), frame: 21 3/4 x 17 3/4 in. (55.2 x 45.1 cm.)
The Leonard & Audrey Adreon Collection, St. Louis, Missouri; acquired August 17th, 1988 from The Omnibus Gallery, Aspen, Colorado.
