Emerson & Silver 1863 Civil War Cavalry Sword with Sheath. The ricasso with 'U.S / DFM / 1863' and 'EMERSON & SILVER / TRENTON / NJ' opposite. {Approximate dimensions with sheath: 42 1/2 inches long.}. Condition: Surface wear and patina throughout. Crease to edge of scabbard towards the base. The owner claims this belonged to Dyer Daniel Lum, an ancestor of theirs. Dyer Daniel Lum was an American anarchist, labor activist and poet. A leading syndicalist and a prominent left-wing intellectual of the 1880s, Lum is best remembered as the lover and mentor of early anarcha-feminist Voltairine de Cleyre.
