Description
HOLLIS SIGLER (1941-2001) "The Heart Rendered Helpless" 1990. Hollis Sigler was a leading feminist artist, who passed of breast cancer. After her diagnosis in 1985 she created a pictorial journal of her journey with cancer. Art in America called it "one of contemporary art's richest and most poignant treatments of sickness and health.... Taking on a kind of religious conviction, her jewel - colored symbols imbue a death-haunted situation with miraculous, celebratory life". It has been noted by several doctors that Sigler gave voice to women struggling with the reality of breast cancer. 33.5" x 28.5" x 2.5"
