**First Time At Auction**

North Africa, Sahara Desert, Late Stone Age, ca. 50,000 to 10,000 years ago. A collection of 3 ancient pecked and polished stone lip plugs or adornments, each with a flat base, arched top, and sloping sides. Evidence of piercings is generally is found in soft tissue - impossible to detect when only bones remain- however recent findings of dental wear suggest the practice of such body modifications - prolonged lip plug and labret use often abrades teeth. Size: 0.8" L x 0.65" W (2 cm x 1.7 cm)
