Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

South America, Peru, Upper / Western Amazon Basin, Ucayali River, Shipibo peoples, ca. early 20th century CE; Latin America, Mexico, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. This is a fabulous collection of 9 vintage pots, bowls, and miniature jars, all hand built and painted by Peruvian Shipibo and Mexican artisans. The 3 bowls are all Shipibo made, each with a rounded but stable base and impressively thin walls - 2 exhibit a curved shoulder. The exterior of each is decorated with fine linear and geometric motifs presented in red and black hues atop a cream ground. The interior basin surfaces on 2 are a uniform layer of chocolate brown pigment, and 1 has linear patterns. The largest vessel is a Mexican pot with a lid and vibrantly painted exterior - in hues of blue, red, white geometric and spiraling motifs. The 5 miniature Mexican jars are all hand painted in brick red and slate blue hues upon the buff surface. Size of largest (lidded pot): 9" Diameter x 6" H (22.9 cm x 15.2 cm); (miniature jar): 1" Diameter x 1.5" H (2.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
