Description
A Susan Kliewer (American, b. 1940) bronze bust sculpture titled 'Hataalii - The Singer' depicting a Navajo man with shoulder length hair, beaded necklace, and a shawl draped over his shoulder and chest. The bust is sculpted so the shawl seems to hang loosely off the side of the wood base. 'Hataalii' is a Navajo word which translates into English as 'Singer' but which refers to Navajo medicine men who looked after the tribe's bodies, minds, and spirits mounted on wood column swivel base with brass title nameplate. Incise signed, dated 1994, and edition 31/55 on base.
