DESCRIPTION: Three matching Satsuma Hododa porcelain plates-one large for use as a platter, two small for use with sauces-each featuring five lobes resulting in a floral appearance. Each plate is decorated in its well with scenes populated with arhats and/or courtiers and is embellished with gilt accents throughout. Lip of platter is finished with cloud and geometric patterns and foliage and berry motifs on the sides. Each piece is marked on underside with Shimazu crest and Hododa kanji signature.
