Impressionist depiction of a large ships engaged in battle, depicting the Battle of Lake Eerie in which the United States Navy defeated and captured six vessels of the British Royal Navy. West lived in Jamestown, Rhode Island where he opened his studio Red Elephant Studio, focusing mainly on land-and water scenes, tall sailing, and Native American chiefs.

Condition

Pinhole to upper right corner, areas of white specks especially to ocean, area of dark scuff to right by ship, otherwise good condition and displays well.
