Description
A No. 6 brass top, bell bottom Porter lantern model with the correct plug-in fount and no. 2 ratchet burner affixed. The lantern is beautifully marked "M. R'Y. Co." on the lid reflector in LARGE 1" letters. There is a brass plate soldered on with "139" stamped in. The brass top has been straightened at some point and shows significant wrinkling and a small hole in the center. The frame is a little wobbly and could use some attention. There is a lightly stamped hallmark on the bottom cylinder that reads "Wm Porter's Sons, Patented June 19 1871 and..." Patina is a nice, age-earned smooth, dark gray with no evidence of excessive cleaning. The globe is an exceptional signal green no. 6 extended base example, beautifully embossed "M Ry Co" in serif font with above average relief. Color translucence is a little on the dark side. There is some minor flake chipping at the top and base fitters, but not seen when in the lantern of course. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 6 - 1/2" x 6 - 1/2" x 9 - 3/4".
