Description
A MINTON STYLE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT LARGE BLUE GROUND AND PAINTED "WHITE HERONS" PORCELAIN VASE, CIRCA 1870s, the stylized petal form rim on a bombé mouth and short neck, on a tall tapering circular body with one side centering paired Herons painted in grisaille in shades of brown and foraging in a marsh landscape, detailed with green, brown, and gilt foliage before a distant pond centering a similarly painted grisaille floating lotus bloom, reversing to a cluster of marsh leafy stemmed foliage in same colors and flanked by parcel gilt scrolling leaf handles suspending tapered open crossed rectangular pendants, over a flaring gilt lined base rim and impressed on bottom, "1665 / 1 / 223." Height: 23 1/4" Width: 12 1/2" Depth: 9" Provenance: Collection of David and Bonnie Floyd, Galveston, Texas.
