Historic Americana
"Native American Princess" Bronze American Oil Lamp
c. 1870, American Oil Lamp with "Native American Princess" Bronze Figural standing on a Slate Base, 23.5" tall, Very Fine.
This highly attractive lighting device appears to be of the Classic American Centennial period, Patriotic Oil Lamp that is ornately designed, measuring about 23.5" tall complete, including the amber glass oil reservoir, and its upper clear glass chimney with a nicely decorated top rim. Its slate base measures 5" x 5". The stylized Classic Native American Princess holds a tree branch in one hand and her featured headdress in her other. Her bronze figure alone stands about 7.5" tall, with a breastplate with a wolf's head on it right and a medal or decoration on the left, as shown. Her appearance is somewhat reminiscent of a Tobacco Store figure, as such nice for display.
