Ca. 2000 BC. An ancient Sumerian temple foundation cone of clay with a flat base on the broadside and a rounded tip on the opposite side. The head is typically mushroom-shaped, the body inscribed with vertical lines of cuneiform script. The inscription in numerous columns originating from Gudea.Size: L:140mm / W:25mm ; 150gProvenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection.
