Scarce 1850's Barrow Co. 2gal Jar. This is a very scarce example and a new discovery in that this lug handle and one loop handled jar. This is the only known form like this from Jackson Co. now present day Barrow County. The jar is two gallons with two concentric lines and has outstanding form and glaze. The glaze shows very well with quartz traces in the body. Charles H. Ferguson (1793-1878) family no doubt with strong influence's of their roots in Edgefield South Carolina where he was trained around early 1820. This is a killer jar and is a must for any southern pottery collector. Condition is outstanding with typical usage and wear. Three small rim edge flakes, slight damage to the lug lifter handle-see pictures. Super tight stress line about inch long, very tight and rings true. Fresh from the Kiser collection of Hartwell Georgia. Standing 10 1/2" Tall
