This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1850's broken dishes/peony quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with a nice green zigzag border.
It measures 84" X 88" and is in very good condition, with popping in some of the early red pieces (see pics.) and the occasional light spots and surface dirt in places. The fabrics date back to the 1830-1860 era, with early brilliant blues and copper madder prints.
There are grid, straight line, and floral designs quilted throughout at 7 stitches to the inch.
The back and hand stitched binding are white, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
