Description
Andes Challapata Poncho, C. 1875-1920. Undyed black alpaca ground, four natural dye stripe heirloom festival poncho of the Pacasa tribe. Separately woven and attached original fringe in good shape. Near mint condition of this well guarded and sparingly used man’s ceremonial garment. Achiri ponchos have been made from some of the finest fiber for spinning and weaving from their well-fed alpacas. Size: 53'' x 52'', 135 x 132 cm (open).
