Description
1901 Marcus Aurelius Meditations Stoic Philosophy English Casaubon Golden Book
“You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Marcus Aurelius was one of the most famous Roman emperors of the Roman Empire, much of that fame comes from his most famous work Meditations. This work is an important insight into the philosophy of Roman thought and comes directly from Marcus Aurelius private notes. They were intended to be a self-help or self-improvement even though Aurelius never intended them to be published. He discusses themes of avoiding indulgences and human vices, homing in on skills, disallowing others to overpower you, ways to clear your mind, and focusing on things you can control.
This 1901 edition of Meditations was published by J.M. Dent in London with a facsimile printing of the 1635 second English edition of Meric Casaubon.
