Description
DESCRIPTION: Two kakejiku (lit. "hanging scroll"; also called kakemono, "hanging thing") by Chiku Tsuba for display on a wall, each featuring Mt. Aso in the background: one depicting an older man on his way to visit a house, one depicting a boathouse with a man resting within. Each piece is embellished with Japanese calligraphy near the top of the image ending in two red stamps, and each piece is mounted at the center of the scroll and surrounded by gilt silk finished with a floral pattern and ending in a bone jiku ("scroll end"). Includes wooden box emblazoned on the lid with black kanji. Dimensions are as follows:

Box - H: 2.5" W: 5.5" L: 21"
Provenance: Lieutenant Colonel Robert Sine, stationed in Korea; pieces purchased in his travels to Japan during the Korean War 1950s; appraised in 1979
