OBERG CARL: (1897-1965) German SS-Obergruppenfuhrer of World War II, the Senior SS and Police Leader in occupied France (1942-44) who became known as the Butcher of Paris. D.S., Oberg, two pages, 4to, n.p., n.d., in German. The document is a photocopy of a German baptism certificate dated 29th August 1935 and which relates to Ernst August Otto Versmann, stating that he was born on 4th July 1823 and naming his parents etc. Signed by Oberg to the verso beneath a brief typed statement, in which he 'certifies that the photocopy corresponds to the attached excerpt from the baptismal register'. With two official stamps, one featuring the Nazi eagle and swastika. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG Ernst August Otto Versmann (1823-1889) German pharmacist and manufacturer.
