Description
Decorated, bulbous-shaped gourd storage vessel, Tutsi People, Rwanda.
The wide, well-balanced form tapers to a thin, curved neck then flares back out to form the vessel's mouth. A finely woven conical fiber cap snugly fits the mouth.
Bold triangle decoration in black surrounds the body forming an overall zigzag pattern and stands in beautiful contrast against the dark amber color of the gourd.
Provenance:
Bryan Reeves, Tribal Gathering Gallery, London
Private collection, Boston, MA
