Miguel Berrocal (Spanish, 1933-2006) Gold Plated Bronze Puzzle Sculpture C. 1969-75, Il Cofanetto, H 8'' L 6'' Depth 5'' Impressed signature and number to housing 'Berrocal 355/500', in gold-plated metal of which 350 were to be made in gold-plated zamak (from 151-500). Ultimately only 207 examples were ever executed in this material. This is one of Berrocal’s most complex works—it took the artist six years to complete. The pieces of Il Cofanetto make up a complete service for two with four additional serving utensils, four goblets, four candlesticks, four ashtrays and one centerpiece.
