Early 19th c. Clear Glass Tumber, with intricate engraved castle and vine decoration and "Das Konigliche Landhaus auf der Pfaueninsel" (the royal country house on the peacock island), and "den 30lten April 1839", "Bei Potsdam" (April 30, 1839, near Potsdam), with beveled rim and star cut base, 4" high, 3 1/8" diam. Base scratches.Berlin's Pfaueninsel Palace is a romantic castle built in 1797 by Prince Friedrich Wilhelm II on Peacock Island in the River Havel. Today, it serves as a museum, and the island is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
