BEACH BOYS AND GRATEFUL DEAD. Original recorded 7” reel of one of the last performances at Fillmore East. [1971]. Original AMPEX 341 reel-to-reel tape, an original recording of the famous jam session between the Beach Boys and the Grateful Dead, taken directly from the soundboard by the assistant stage manager at the Fillmore East. The assistant stage manager was a cousin of the consignor who gave it to him years later. Reel in original box. Box worn and soiled, with occasional wear to tape. Untested. Rare and unusual; a record of a jam between two legendary bands (the Beach Boys were introduced by Jerry Garcia as “another famous California group”). Provenance: The Bo Overlock Collection.
