Rare ceremonial object; hand carved wood with conus shell eyes and black and red natural earth pigments. Carved to appear as a woman with pointed toes and hands held over head. Object from the Middle Sepik River, East Sepik Province, Papua-New Guinea and is of the Latmul people. Dated mid 19th to late 19th century.
