Sebree first emerged as an artist in the pre-WWII Chicago Black arts scene, best recognized for his paintings of harlequinade and theatrical figures. His work was exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in the 1930s and 1940s, and his unique style was admired by some of the most celebrated luminaries of modern art, including Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein, and Fernand Leger. Today, his paintings may be found in numerous permanent collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Howard University Art Gallery, and Savannah College of Art & Design Museum of Art.

Very good condition, noting minor grime on the painting's surface. No signs of in-painting, over-painting, touch-ups, or damage under blacklight inspection.
