4 5/8" Florida Agatized Coral Newnan made by Mark Brachen late 1990's. Mark is a well-known knapper who used to live in Florida and moved to Pennsylvania over a decade ago. He is an abo knapper but hasn't made many pieces in recent years. Back in the 1990's Mark was very careful who he sold his work to. He was very aware of what the artifakers in the artifact community would do with them if they got hold of them. It was very hard to get this piece from him! In recent years he hasn't made anything that I am aware of and if he is it likely wouldn't be coral which he used to gather when he lived in Florida. This is an outstanding example of his craftsmanship/artistry and an attractive display piece made of a prized stone used by Native Americans for thousands of years. I think he diamond scribed his signature on this piece but I can't see it.
