Description
**Originally Listed At $300**
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A finely woven textile panel in hues of deep burgundy red, tan-yellow, and pink. The long band is woven with a repeating vertical register containing abstract zoomorphic or human faces within triangular shapes bordered by clef steps and other geometric forms. Staring at the mesmerizing pattern long enough, one might experience some pareidolia, the mind creating larger forms or faces from the intricate patterns! Along one edge is a generous tassel of lengthy and thick threads. There may have been a number of these completed panels sewn together to form a single weaving. The panel is mounted in a wooden and glass frame as a lovely display piece. Size (textile): 29.5" L x 9.25" W (74.9 cm x 23.5 cm); (frame): 35" L x 12" W (88.9 cm x 30.5 cm)
