Description
19th Century Grain Painted Lamplighter's Box W. Contents. Dovetailed chest with dovetail drawer. Drawer contains various spare lamp wicks and 3 period wick trimmers, one lift top compartment with tin liner holds brass lamp filler, other compartment with tole tin lamp lighter, funnel & additional larger wicks. Found in Pennsylvania. Probably from a mansion or municipal building where a worker would have had responsibility to maintain all kerosene lighting. Accompanying this lot is a letter from Leroy Thwing Editor of Lamplighter Magazine - 13" tall x 14"x10"
