Vintage Sterling Silver Amethyst Ring, lab created, tiered cluster design. Size 10.5, weight is 5.23 grams. Signed with what looks like an angled bell in a square frame. The stones test as amethyst. They do not test as glass. I used a Presidium Gem Tester which is never a definitive identification but an indicator to look forward. My experience with the sterling rings with these types of stones are that they are lab created as it is rare to see really good natural stones in sterling silver without it being hand made or signed by certain makers. In addition, amethyst is one of the easiest and economical stones to create and as natural amethysts are very clear as a created it is very hard to tell the difference. In face, they are so difficult that it has driven down the price of amethysts. A normal refractometer and tools that are affordable for gemologists that are not big companies like GIA, etc., cannot afford the equipment needed to accurately confirm natural amethysts.
