26A. RARE "PEPITA DE OLIVA" PAPER DOLL. 5" two-sided cardboard paper doll of Pepita De Oliva, Spanish dancer who left her family and moved to London. Paper doll was published under the name of "The ‘Little’ Fanny Elssler". Presumed to be printed by McLoughlin, paper doll comes with 6 beautiful, front and back costumes, used during her performances (one costume seems to be glued to paper doll); Boxed set but box not original to paper doll; Included is a copy of four pages written by Jane Grauer "The Mystery of the ‘Little’ Fanny Elssler" and a photocopy of the paper doll. Commentary: Paper doll has bends at bottom of stand, face and body seem OK but center part of body is attached to one of the costumes; Costumes are in very good condition; Box with beautiful lithographed picture has wear and restoration to sides.
