"THE AMERICAN LADY AND HER CHILDREN" PAPER DOLLS. 7" front and back mother with five beautiful gowns and one cape, 2 1/2" little sister with one costume, 4 1/2" big sister with eight costumes, each representing a different activity or occasion, 4 1/2" big brother with three costumes. Preserved in beautifully illustrated four flap envelope with picture depicting the American Lady, big sister playing with balloon, big brother holding a ball, edged with Victorian trim and flowers, titled "The American Lady and her Children, in a variety of the latest beautiful costumes" (in English and German); Envelope has additional titles printed and attached to inner part of envelope. Published by Kimmel & Forster, circa 1860. Commentary: Super rare set, lithographed and hand colored on both sides. Mother has repair at chin, missing one head piece, envelope has wear around edges, otherwise in very good to excellent condition. Estimate: 800/1200
