Description
A Bucks County, Pennsylvania wool Jacquard coverlet, circa 1841, Michael Kauffman (Pennsylvania, 1806-1846), navy blue, red and green alternating rows of eagles, geometric and floral motifs, surrounded by a distelfink and rosebush border to three sides, constructed in two panels, inscribed to the lower corners "M.K. / SPRINGFI / ELD: TO. / BUCKS: CO. / 1841." Michael Kauffman is documented as a resident of Springfield Township, Bucks County and an active weaver from 1839-1844.

Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Significant losses to fringe on three sides, especially to the upper left corner. Several scattered old make-do repairs. Otherwise in generally good condition. No apparent odors.
