Description
China, 19th century. A Chinese export porcelain bowl and two matching plates in a beautiful mint green color. The pieces are unmarked, which concludes production before the 1890s. Decorated with butterflies, bugs, flowers, and congregated figures. Measurements as follows; 9.75" D, 16.5" D x 5.0" H.
Overall good condition. Some blemishes from the firing process, but no chips or cracks. Each piece has loss to paint and gilding.
Provenance: From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
