As a child of millennial generation, Caleb's work moves swiftly between the digital and the material world. He works within the medium and tradition of painting. However, he takes inspiration from music, film, photography and design. Growing up in a family of artists and designers he was exposed to the Modernist avant garde , The Bauhaus and the New York school of painters from a young age. Artists such as Willem de Kooning and Robert Rauschenberg are among his earliest artistic influences. However, he does not differentiate between high and low culture, drawing on forms and attitudes associated with subcultures like Punk, Jazz and early American Rock and Roll. His works tend to fluctuate between abstraction and figuration, often warping the two into hybrid paintings. Using silkscreens, squeegees, brushes and large printers he creates paintings which fuse together texture, color and image in new and exiting ways.
