1786 PA Walnut Chippendale Blanket Chest, the lift lid with unique inlaid spread wing eagle inlay framed by string and quarter fan inlay, the front of the case with conforming decoration in the form of three string and quarter fans inlaid panels, the center one with the date 1786, and inlaid initials JS, each drawer with quarter fan and string inlay, The drawers, and the case having had a layer of cedar lining applied sometime in the 20th century, a process that is very reversible., 29"h x 53"w x 23”d, "20th-century origin. The chest itself is actually a quite extraordinary 18th century Pennsylvania blanket chest I believe that the cedar lining is totally reversible with no lasting damage.Original strap hinges, crab lock with key. Unknown till? No evidence without removing cedar. Some repairs to drawer lips, replaced brasses, some restorations(?) to feet - blocks and facings, maybe 25-35% original"
